Governor Charlie Crist today announced the appointment
of Richard E. Perez, 56, Chief of Police for the City of Wilton
Manors Police Department to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
This is a prestigious gubernatorial appointment to a commission
whose primary responsibilities are to establish uniform minimum
standards, training and discipline for all law enforcement and correctional
officers in the State of Florida. The 19 member Commission meets
four times a year.
Chief Perez took over the Wilton Manors Police Department in January
2006. Perez stated he was humbled to have been nominated by the
Florida Police Chiefs’ Association, and appointed by Governor
Crist. “I was overwhelmed by the support and endorsement letters
I received” said Perez. “I am honored to represent the
City of Wilton Manors and the Wilton Manors Police Department.”
Chief Perez will serve a four year term beginning August 25, 2008
and ending August 1, 2012.
