HELP CURB BICYCLE
THEFT BY
REGISTERING YOUR BICYCLE
Wilton Manors Residents:
Bicycle Theft is a crime that unfortunately occurs here in your
city. We would appreciate your assistance in reducing bicycle theft
in our community by registering your bicycle at the Wilton Manors
Police Department. Your identifiable bicycle information will be
documented and a registration decal will be attached to your bicycle.
If your bicycle gets stolen, the information is readily available
and your bicycle can be immediately entered into a nationwide law
enforcement computer property tracking system. Your Police Officers
will look for these decals on bicycles they observe in the city.
If an officer sees the registration decal, he/she can easily verify
who the bicycle belongs to and/or if the person riding it should
be in possession of the bicycle. If your bicycle is registered and
it does get stolen, the percentage of it being recovered is greater
than if it is not registered. So come to the Police Department between
the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily to register your bicycle.
The process normally takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Please bring
any ownership documents such as a bill of sale, invoice or manufacture's
booklet, if you have them, to assist us in identifying the model
number of your bicycle and unique serial number. So please, take
the time to register your bicycle and lessen your changes of becoming
a victim of crime.
Thank you.
